Dubaslavia

Back from a short trip to the happening location in the Emirates, Dubai. And what a happening place, the place is so soul-less. Nothing happens over there but degradation of the essence of life and meanings. The modern life and specially the Americanization, oops sorry, Globalization... Capitalization should be even better has turned this desert into the center stage for extreme hard work and slavery by the majority for the benefit of the very few. I've been to this place quite a few times before, had to in fact, but the show was much more amplified this time. Happening locations such as Paris, Florence or even Casablanca used to be the sources for art, beauty, freedom, courage and love once but the showcases today are manifestations of fear and suppression in the masses to be able to turn the wheels of capitalism more and more.

Go to this place for labor in the hopes of a better life for your family back home, will this ever come? And glide in an atmosphere full of containment and live daily and nightly with the fear of getting thrown out or losing the pennies you are saving, not having any freedom has taken your soul, to the point that you won't be able to live the life and feel any meanings anymore, is this what us people should do? This is what you get from the eyes first of all and the body language of the taxi driver, hotel receptionist, any seller in any store, the guy over at the restaurant, bank teller, even the white collars ...

For some reason I didn't get this feeling (not this much) while living in the states, which has quite the same model, maybe because the proportions are different over there, but this place just was so amazing.

I just believe these people could've done other things and they could've lived happier lives, not possessed by some beliefs coming from outside the borders to make you believe your need in life is other things and then show you the path to get there and take your soul in the way to just gain more control over the whole village called "Earth".

The Yin and Yang of the new age : Need, fear to lose .... you need more, more and more ... fear losing this and that ... fear more and more ....
"Hush little baby, dont say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
Its just the beast under your bed,
In your closet, in your head

Exit light
Enter night" ... and give me that useless Soul !

Veryyyyyyyyy Nice article!

Dear Amir hossein! I agree with you 95% but the other 5% of my mind says:

The nationality and the local life condition of those slaves plays an important role in this happenings!

As a person who have lived for some months in the Emirates I can say that you have described the situation in deep details but the the reasons are not so clear in your article.

You may know that there are people in the U.A.E from almost all nations in the world and there are residences at least from all asian and middle east nations. but 90% of those slaves are from India, Pakistan and the Philippines. You can see Americans, Iranians and Europeans and ... but rarely you can see one of them in the situation that you described as an slave. You know I personally hates that country and I've left it as soon as I could, but I'm talking about something else.
What I'm saying is that those slaves are feeling life in heaven over there!
You can imagine that I was nagging for 5000 dirhams per month for a part time job, but one of my friends who are majoring a master in economics is so glade for receiving 3000 dirhams per month!
...I was only guy that could take off days whenever I wanted...
But the main points are true and anytime and everywhere in the world, the rich people take advantage of the poor people...

Ehsun,

I think I have a hard time accepting the fact that the workers over there have a life in heaven, at least this is what they think will happen to them initially but things will change very soon. ... I am not saying that they are suffering necessarily but I believe they could have followed different lives in their own countries with slightly more happiness. The won't make as much money over there but my point is that money should not be their main concern, this claim is too general and very hard to accept these days but I believe human beings can live beautiful lives with money being outside of the first ten priorities in life. I feel that the whole world is brainwashed deeply into thinking different. Most of the problems people think these days are financial issues which a different mind set could have made it different... the different mind set is hard to follow ... but it exists .... it is buried deep right now ... it can be found once more...

No I don't say that they are in heaven or even they have a good life.
But if they don't want to go back and watch their kids starving...
You know most of the workers over there are so depressed and sad... I know that I've lived over there for 7 months and 7 months is not...but I had many friends and acquaintances...
I saw people working over there from morning to night without holidays except one month after 12 months work...I saw a girl who had been promised to be employed as an entertainer but her new job was...
We know that this life style is like living in hell and those people know too. But they prefer to live in this hell and let their kids to have a better life. So they don't like to go back to their country and receive small salaries.
..the other astonishing fact is that those Phillipinos and Indians who are the majority of these workers are so happy and warm...(I know all of them are so sad in their soul) But you can not imagine how they look happier than us...

This is my point, I believe that their children will not have "better" lives. Its hard to see this in the modern age since everything is coded with money, but I believe that deep under there are other much much more important things which will be all lost in this case. Of course a minimum is needed for a basic life but I'm sure all these dudes, even if they work less than what they do outside the borders, can manage to have a simple life, but there is this beast in their head which is telling them they need more and more ... relative to the others around them of course.

And yes unfortunately many of those people you said may seem happier than us, but don't forget that the beast has conquered our country too, and people have changed quite a lot, does anyone know Hafez, Molana or Sa'di anymore? No really do then know who they are? Bring the money on, thats all that matters and since we are not making more and more or the more we make the more we need, hence we get sad and sad everyday and welcome anti-depressant drugs.. the stars of the new age .... do you think people would have done such things 500 years ago?
