Beautiful violence

If you want to know what would happen if beauty became the binding element between everything else, then watch the recent movie by Tim Burton, Sweeny Todd. The visual colors and composition is beautiful, the music and dialogs are beautiful, the character movements, emotions shown and the violence and blood is beautiful.

This is a truly different movie but very well composed. Nothing deep and meaningful but a showcase for aesthetics in overall elements.

Violence is a must in art forms and specially in visual ones.
I don't exactly know why, but great violence makes me enjoy the experience. (A shrink may be able to help me here!) By great I don't mean the tasteless, excessively copious and overly graphic and dramatic kind found these days in most, if not all, (supposedly) horror movies.
What I mean is more along the lines of masterpieces such as Oldboy, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, and quite a few more. And never forget God of War. The interactiveness adds a whole new dimensions.
What I'm trying to say is that violence (of course I strictly mean fictional violence) can be beautiful on its own, and if it is depicted in a beautiful and eye-caressing(?) way, well, it even becomes better!

yeah I guess Nietzsche has some good explanations along these lines ... and I think that although many might ignore such inner feelings, it really exists... I'd add Natural Born Killers to your list ..speaking of God of War I will have to write something soon since I had the great honor to be able to experience it just very recently and oh ... oh ...MFG ... words can't say it now..
